Macaws, Toucans, and Magic: Your Insider Guide to Parque das Aves

Experience the raw beauty of the Atlantic Forest at the world-renowned Bird Park in Foz do Iguaçu.

Vibrant parrots at Parque das Aves

Close your eyes and imagine a roar—not the roar of the falls, but a vibrant, colorful symphony of hundreds of macaws wheeling over your head in a flash of blue, red, and gold.

At Parque das Aves (The Bird Park), this isn't a dream—it's just a Tuesday. Unlike a typical zoo where animals are behind bars, here we at Iguazu Rides love to take our guests because it’s an immersion experience. You walk inside the aviaries, sharing the same space with some of the most exotic creatures on the planet. It is, quite simply, magical.

More Than Just a Zoo: The Conservation Mission

One of the things that makes us most proud to recommend the Bird Park is its heart. This is a private sanctuary with a massive responsibility: protecting the species of the Atlantic Forest (Mata Atlântica).

Over 50% of the birds you see here have been rescued from illegal trafficking or environmental accidents. The park isn't just showing them off; it’s a living laboratory and rescue center focused on breeding and rehabilitating species that are on the brink of extinction. When you visit, your ticket directly supports these vital conservation efforts.

What to Expect Inside: The Walkthrough

The experience follows a single, 1.5 km trail through the lush jungle. Here are the highlights you cannot miss:

The Macaw Aviary (Viveiro das Araras)

This is the climax of the trail. You enter a massive structure where nearly 100 macaws fly freely around you. The noise is incredible, the colors are blinding, and the feeling of a macaw swooping just inches above your head is something you’ll never forget.

Toucan Encounters

Early in the trail, you'll find the toucans. They are surprisingly curious and often hop onto the railings to get a closer look at you. It’s the perfect moment for that iconic "Iguazu" photo.

Butterflies and Reptiles

Don't rush through the Borboletário (Butterfly House). If you stand still for a few minutes, these vibrant gems might just land on your shoulder for a rest. Afterward, keep an eye out for the caimans and snakes in the reptile section!

Pro Tips for the Best Experience

  • !

Timing is Everything: Go in the early morning (around 9 AM) if you want to see the birds at their most active. If you prefer smaller crowds, the late afternoon (after 3 PM) is your best bet.

  • !

What to Wear: The trail is flat and easy, but you are in the jungle. Wear comfortable walking shoes and don't forget the bug spray—the mosquitoes here are as enthusiastic as the birds.

  • !

The Perfect Combo: The Bird Park entrance is literally right across the street from the Brazilian Falls entrance. We always recommend doing both on the same day to save on travel time.

  • !

Photography: Turn off your flash! It stresses the birds and is strictly prohibited inside the aviaries.
